General Admission & Requirements

1. What are the admission requirements for international students?
International applicants must have completed secondary education in their home country and hold a high school diploma (or its equivalent).

2. Do I need to take entrance exams (e.g., MCAT, biology, chemistry, English tests)?
No entrance exams are required. However, applicants who do not hold an English proficiency certificate must take an English language test at the B1 level.

3. What level of English proficiency (IELTS/TOEFL/etc.) is required?
A minimum of B1 level English proficiency is required.

4. Are there age limits for admission?
Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

5. How do I apply online, and what documents are required?
Applicants must submit:

  • A completed application form
  • A notarized copy of a document proving citizenship
  • A notarized copy of a secondary school diploma (or equivalent)
  • One 3×4 photo (submitted electronically or on CD)
  • If applying through a trustee, a notarized power of attorney
  • For applicants without citizenship: a copy of the residence card instead of a citizenship document

6. Do you accept transfer students from other medical schools?
Yes, provided that the previous medical school is recognized and authorized by the Ministry of Education of Georgia.


Program & Degree

7. How long does the medical program last?
The program lasts 6 years.

8. In which language is the program taught?
English.

9. Is the degree internationally recognized (e.g., WHO, ECFMG, EU/US accreditation)?
Our university is accredited by ACQUIN, which ensures that our diploma is generally recognized across the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) — over 40 countries, including all EU member states, the UK, Switzerland, and Turkey — for the purpose of further studies (Master’s, PhD, specialization).
Outside Europe (USA, Canada, Asia, Middle East, etc.), recognition is not automatic. Graduates typically need to complete local medical licensing procedures (e.g., USMLE in the USA, PLAB/UKMLA in the UK, NMC screening test in India). ACQUIN accreditation strengthens credibility, but each country has its own medical licensing authority.

10. Will I be able to work as a doctor in my home country after graduation?
Yes. Our diploma allows you to sit for the medical licensing examination in your home country. Upon successfully passing the exam, you will be eligible to practice medicine there.

11. Do you offer clinical practice/internships, and where are they held?
Yes. Clinical practice and internships are offered at our affiliated Rustavi Central Clinic, located about 20 minutes’ drive from the university.


Costs & Scholarships

12. What is the tuition fee for international students?
The tuition fee is 5,500 USD per year, payable in two installments.

13. Are there additional costs (laboratory, library, exams, etc.)?
No.

14. Are scholarships or financial aid available for international students?
Currently, scholarships or financial aid are not available for international students.

15. What are the estimated living costs (housing, food, transport, insurance)?
Estimated living costs are approximately 600–700 USD per month.


Visa & Immigration

16. What type of visa do I need, and how do I apply?
You will need a student visa, which must be obtained through the Georgian Embassy in your home country.

17. Will the university assist with the visa process?
We provide guidance and the necessary documents to support your visa application, but the application itself must be completed by the student.

18. Can I work part-time during my studies?
No, international students are not permitted to work during their studies.

19. What happens if my visa is denied or expires?
If your visa is denied, you will not be able to enroll. To prevent visa expiration, you must renew it before the due date.


Accommodation & Student Life

20. Does the university provide student housing or dormitories?
No, the university does not provide housing or dormitories.

21. Can I rent an apartment near the university?
Yes, apartments are available for rent near the university.

22. What facilities does the campus offer?
Our campus includes a library, laboratories, an anatomy block, a simulation clinic, a VR room, and a student support department.

23. How safe is Tbilisi for international students?
Tbilisi is considered one of the safest cities in the world, both for international students and residents.

24. Is health insurance mandatory, and how can I get it?
Health insurance requirements depend on visa regulations. Please consult the Georgian Embassy in your home country for up-to-date information.

25. Are there student organizations for international students?
Yes. Various student organizations at our university regularly host events, guest lectures, sports competitions, and other activities.


Other Practical Questions

26. When does the academic year start, and what are the semester dates?
The academic year usually begins in late September, and the spring semester typically starts in early to mid-March. Separate academic calendars may be created for groups starting later in the year.

27. How do I open a bank account in Georgia?
You can open a bank account by visiting any local bank branch with your Temporary Residence Card (TRC).

28. Is there an orientation program for international students?
Yes, an orientation program is organized for international students.

29. Can my family accompany me during my studies?
Your family is welcome to visit you on campus, but they cannot be present during lectures or classes.

30. Who can I contact for help once I arrive (international office, student support)?
You will be assigned a university representative who will stay in contact with you before your arrival and assist you once you are here.
